Enabling the classic UI

New Dynamics CRM online instances now use the Unified Interface by default – even for the default app.

Unified Client Interface

It’s not always possible or feasible to use the Unified Interface – you might use features only available in the classic UI, or use the new instance to test something. Whatever the reason to use the classic UI, this is how to switch to the classic UI.

Temporarily switch to the classic UI

Just use the URL parameter forceClassic=1 with the appId and the app will load with the classic URL, e.g. https://example.crm11.dynamics.com/main.aspx?app=d365default&forceClassic=1.

Permanently enable the classic UI

To permanently enable the classic UI, enable it in the Settings. To get to the settings area in the modern UI, click on the options gear wheel and select Adcanved Settings. This will open the classic Settings area.

Open the System Settings (in Administration), scroll down to Use the new legacy Unified Interface only (recommended) and set it to no. While at it, also set the option Show legacy Dynamics 365 – custom app to Yes (and rename the app to a meaningful name).
